Mickey Mantle was From Oklahoma

Saturday, it rained and rained and rained and rained. But the wee little brother, his fianc� and I went wine-tasting anyway. At one winery, a tour group had arrived just before us, so to kill time the owner of the winery took us on tour of the barrel room and his own personal wine cellar.

He was 85 years old and used to be a costume designer for 20th Century Fox. He served in World War II. He then moved to London and was an illustrator for magazine stories. I bought some postcards with his illustrations on them. They are very Doris Dayish�I love them. He had a studio in Paris for awhile and then decided to move to New York and open a winery. And to top it all off, he is originally from Oklahoma.

I kept telling the wee little brother�s fianc� that great people come from Oklahoma�there�s me, and the wee little brother and the wine guy and Mickey Mantle.

And to top it all off, the guy who actually conducted the wine-tasting was wearing a Silver Surfer shirt and was an opera singer.

He sang�I was impressed.
