Good People
2001-11-10, 12:22 p.m.

Wednesday I went with the school to Newark to participate in training for the World Trade Center Disaster Legal Response Program. We got to ride a school bus all the way to Newark.

On the way there, my friend and I got stuck with the seat with the lovely little hump on the floor.

But on the way back, someone stole our seats. I wondered why in the world would someone want the seat with the big hump on the floor.

The only seats left were ones all the way in the back...and I found out why they stole our seats.

1) Do you remember when you were a little kid and you loved the very back seats because you bounced all over the place. After the first couple of minutes, it isn't much fun any more.

2) The window by the seat in front of us kept falling down.

So, we spent the unbelievably long bus ride bouncing in the seat and freezing because the window wouldn't stay up. This is what we get for trying to be good people.

On the good people front, if you find money in New Jersey...never turn it into the police. You won't get it back. Money is intangible property. Intangible property that is lost or abandoned is placed in a Abandoned property trust fund for five years. At the end of five years, 75% of it is then transferred to the general state fund. If you find money and do the right thing and turn it in...thinking that after a period of time you will get it back if no one claims it...you are just giving it to the state of New Jersey...
